Christmastime provides ample opportunity to create wonderful memories that last a lifetime, especially here in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Last weekend, Versailles celebrated Christmas on the Square. Currently, you can see gorgeous light displays all over the lake area. This weekend, we see all kinds of Warsaw Christmas events taking place. The only question left if which one to tackle first?
Warsaw Christmas Events 2018
Warsaw Chili/Soup Dinner
The first of the Warsaw Christmas events happening this weekend takes place this Friday, December 14th. The Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary hosts their annual chili/soup dinner at the Warsaw Community B
Breakfast with Santa
Next up for this weekend’s Warsaw Christmas events is Breakfast with Santa at the Warsaw Community Building. That’s right! Santa graciously agreed to come sit with all the good little boys and girls in our fair city to eat breakfast and take requests for presents. He’ll only be able to stay from 9:30 am to 11 am, though. In addition to breakfast, guests get their face painted, create Christmas-themed crafts, and even get to write a letter to the jolly old elf himself so he doesn’t forget what you hope you leaves for you under the tree. Pick up your $5 ticket at the city’s Utility Office before the end of business on Friday. Otherwise, you pay $7 at the door.
The Grinch Candy Cane Hunt
After breakfast with Santa, go to Drake Harbor to search for hidden candy canes. Between 11:15 am and 1 pm, the City needs your help to locate all the candy canes hidden around the harbor before The Grinch comes in to steal them. Some of the candy canes win the person who locates them a very special prize. Afterwards, sip a nice cup of hot cocoa, snack on a lovely treat, and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas on a giant outdoor screen.
How can you enjoy these Warsaw Christmas events without music? You can’t! Luckily, the Warsaw Community Choir performs holiday classics live and in person on the Community Building’s stage from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Christmas Parade and Hayride
Finally, end the weekend’s Warsaw Christmas events with a wonderful Christmas parade downtown at 6 pm. Watch as fantastically decorated floats, bands, and more march through the streets. Santa Claus might even make an appearance here, too. Afterward, take a free hayride around Drake Harbor and Main St. See live animals at the petting zoo. And bring your camera so you can take pictures with Santa.
It’s all fun and games at the various Warsaw Christmas events taking place this weekend. You’re sure to get in the holiday spirit. While you’re shopping at the downtown boutiques, make sure to collect all your receipts. Then, when you’re done, turn them in to the Community Building by 6 pm to be entered into a raffle. You could win a great prize as a present to yourself this Christmas. Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas!
