Want to support our local athletes in the Special Olympics? Feel brave enough to challenge the chilly winter weather? Sign up for the Osage Beach Polar Plunge or the Polar Bear Strut taking place this weekend. If you’re really daring, why not do both and make a full day of it?
Osage Beach Polar Bear Strut 2019
February 23rd starts off with a fun Osage Beach Polar Bear Strut. Starting at 10 am, participants choose to either walk or run the 5K (3.1 mile) course. The start line forms at Public Beach #2. From there, it travels up Nichols Rd to Osage Beach Pkwy. Once runners and walkers reach Case Rd, they double back from whence they came to finish up back at Public Beach #2.
If you want to be a part of the Polar Bear Strut, you need to register at the Special Olympics Missouri website here. Then, raise at least $50 before you strut (remember, this IS a fundraiser). If you raise $300, you’ll receive a blanket. Raise $500 for a hoodie. $1000 nabs you a nifty jacket. And $2000 will get you a great cooler as well as all the other prizes on the list. Additionally, if you turn in $500 by March 9th, you’ll be entered into a drawing for an awesome 2018 Sea-Doo GTI SE PWC.
Osage Beach Polar Plunge 2019
After you’re done strutting your stuff, sit tight at Public Beach #2. That’s where the Osage Beach Polar Plunge 2019 takes place. Last minute registration happens from noon to 2 pm. Show off your creativity in the costume parade at 1:50 pm. Then, at 2 pm…it’s cannonball time on the lake.
For the Polar Plunge, event organizers request that participants be at least 10 years old and raise a minimum of $75 each before they take the plunge. The prize structure remains the same as the Polar Bear Strut. Register online at the Special Olympics event website here. There are only a few days left before this all takes place. So, sign up today and get crackin’ on that fundraising!
