In Missouri, October means apple-picking time. Apple pies. Apple strudel. Crisp apple brown betty. Warm apple cider. Yum! Makes our mouths water. Celebrate this versatile fruit at the Versailles Apple Festival 2019 this weekend.
Versailles Apple Festival 2019
In past years, the apple festival only lasted for one day. But, for its 40th anniversary, this year’s festivities take place over an entire weekend. That means more time to soak in all the apple-themed goodness!
Festivities start on Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast from 6:30 am to 9 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Fisher. The Kids Fun Zone opens up at 9 am on the corner of Jasper and Krekel. For the adults, vendor row opens up in the square at 9 am as well. The apple festival parade starts at 10 am on Hwy 52. Afterward, put in a winning bid and take home a winning pie from the Apple Pie Baking Contest. Watch the fiddler’s contest at 1 pm, enjoy live music from 1 pm to 5 pm, and see cars crash into each other at the demolition derby at 6 pm. And that’s just what happens on the first day of the festival!
Several acts perform live on four different stages throughout this two-day event. The Finley River Boys take over the Main Stage on Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Meanwhile, Black Jack Row performs at the same time on the Monroe Street stage. 80’s tribute band the Retro Nerds keep guests in the Beer Garden entertained on Saturday while the husband/wife duo Sonshine Road performs on the Gospel Stage. On Sunday, Pure Drive takes over the Main Stage while Plain & Simple performs on the Monroe Street stage.
That sounds like a whole lot of fun to us. Even so, it only scratches the surface of what’s going on throughout Versailles this weekend. For a complete schedule of events, visit the Versailles Old Tyme Apple Festival website here.
