Physical activity provides an adrenaline boost to your body and a spiritual boost to your mind. Places like the Tri-County YMCA encourage people to become more physically active with dozens of different programs. They offer these programs on a sliding scale based on a member’s income. To keep these prices affordable, they rely on donations from the public. How do they raise money? By hosting fun things like the Osage Beach Whobilation 5K.
Osage Beach Whobilation 5K
Last year’s event was such a success, that the YMCA decided to bring back Whobilation again this year. The 5K (just over three miles) course follows a relatively easy path from start to finish. This allows people of all abilities to participate. Run. Walk. Skip. Saunter. Stroll. Whatever you decide to do to get to the finish line, all that matters is that you finish.
Whobilation begins at 8 am at the Tri-County YMCA of the Ozarks. Let the whole family participate, including your furry friends. Just make sure to leash them at all times. But, if your dog gets jumpy around crowds, you might want to leave them at home. Even get the youngest members of your family involved by pushing them in a stroller along the course. After everyone finishes, the YMCA hosts a Dr. Seuss-themed brunch. Awards will be handed out during the brunch.
There’s still time to register. Participation costs $35 per person. Visit the Whobilation registration page to sign up everyone in your family. All money raised benefits the programs the YMCA provides to the public. So, strap on your shoes, give yourself a good stretch and start walking!
