Waterslide fun at Lake of the Ozarks happens every Sat through Tues until October at Sunrise Beach's Bear Bottom Resort.Summer is here and the Lake of the Ozarks area is hopping!  You don’t need a boat for a good time in the water.  Try some waterslide fun at Lake of the Ozarks.

Search the MLS to find the perfect Lake of the Ozarks home for saleEvery Saturday through Tuesday until October 1st, Lake of the Ozarks’ Bear Bottom Resort offers two of the longest open flume body waterslides in the entire state.  That’s more than 700 feet of splish-splashing, body hurling waterslide fun at Lake of the Ozarks.  From 11am to 11pm as long as the weather allows, kids 36″ or taller will be allowed to ride the waterslides as many times as they want.  If relaxing is your cup of tea, settle back at the poolside bar for one of Bear Bottom’s frozen specialty drinks.  You’ll want to stay on until after dark every Saturday night for the fireworks display.  On Sundays, anyone within 10 miles of Bear Bottom Resort can get a ride to and from the resort absolutely free, thanks to Elegant Transport (417-718-0610).

The cost for a day of waterslide fun at Lake of the Ozarks is just $10 per person.  Non-riders can lounge for free.  You can get a season pass if you plan on making this part of your regular summer program.  Just call the Bear Bottom Resort in Sunrise Beach at (573) 374-6905.  Slip-slide your way through summer with some waterslide fun at Lake of the Ozarks all the way through October.  You’re guaranteed to have a “beary” good time.

2013 Lake of the Ozarks Dogwood Festival

The Lake of the Ozarks celebrates the Flowering Dogwood, Missouri's state tree, at their annual Lake of the Ozarks Dogwood Festival April 18-21, 2013.The flowering dogwood is the official state tree of Missouri.  This wide tree produces beautiful little white flowers that eventually turn into small groups of bright red fruit that are a favorite of local birds.  In honor of our state tree, the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce throws a Lake of the Ozarks Dogwood Festival every year.  This year marks the 63rd year in a row that they have done so.

The Lake of the Ozarks Indoor Garage Sale takes place at the Camden County Museum this Sat, March 2, 2013 from 9am to 4pm.Who doesn’t love a bargain? We know so many people who spend their Saturday mornings touring the neighborhoods trying to negotiate the perfect deal at garage sales. For some, it’s become almost an obsession. If you are one of those people, you may want to come to Linn Creek this Saturday (March 2nd) for the Lake of the Ozarks Indoor Garage Sale and Market Place.

Lake of the Ozarks Polar Plunge

Supporters of Special Olympics Missouri will be taking the Polar Bear Plunge in Lake of the Ozarks once an hour Feb 22-23, 2013 at Osage Beach. Come cheer them on!You don’t have to be a big bundle of white fur and live at the north pole to take a dip in icy cold waters. The Lake of the Ozarks Polar Plunge happens right here at Osage Beach this Friday and Saturday (February 22-23). This isn’t just to get your heart pumping, either. Those taking the plunge this Saturday will be helping to raise money for the Special Olympics Missouri. And you can help!

Search the MLS to find the perfect Lake of the Ozarks home for saleRight now, there are 12 very brave souls who have signed up to take a dip in the icy Lake of the Ozarks every hour on the hour for a full 24 hours straight beginning at 3:30pm on Friday and continuing until 2:30pm on Saturday. A 5K strut is also scheduled at 8am on Saturday at Grand Glaize Beach in Lake of the Ozarks State Park. All money raised will support the training and other programs provided by the Special Olympics of Missouri. While we have our volunteers already in place to take the plunge, feel free to show your support by cheering them on anytime during those 24 hours.

Even if you’re not brave enough for the Lake of the Ozarks Polar Plunge, you can still help the Special Olympics Missouri by making a pledge or a general donation. Just visit their website here to find out how. The plunge will happen come rain or shine. The current weather is supposed to head out of the area by tomorrow evening and begin to warm up on Friday. Help these very special athletes continue their dreams by donating today.

Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl

A taste of N'Awlins comes to Lake of the Ozarks this Sat, Feb 16th with the Mardi Gras Pub Crawl 2013.If you couldn’t make it to New Orleans this year, don’t worry. A taste of N’Awlins is coming to the Lake of the Ozarks. This Saturday, bars around the lake will be hosting Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl.

Buy a candy rose at a participating Benton County shop, restaurant or store as well as PALS Treasures in Lincoln and help The Place at the Lake's Domestic Violence Shelter.Roses are red, violets are blue, buy a rose for your sweetie and help out a stranger, too. Valentine’s Day is just over a week away. Show the lady love of your life how much you love her by purchasing a candy rose from The Place at the Lake. The money raised from rose sales will go towards helping victims of domestic violence in Benton County.

From now through Valentine’s Day, various Benton County stores, restaurants and shops will be selling these special candy roses for just $3.50 each. The Place at the Lake came about due to the fact that the state of Missouri didn’t have enough shelters to adequately help the thousands of victims of abuse each year. They provide a 24/7 crisis hotline (866-374-9044), temporary shelter for emergency cases, a monthly support group and broadcast a monthly radio show offering helpful advice. Their thrift store, PALS Treasures, operates out of Lincoln, MO. All proceeds from the store’s sales go towards funding The Place at the Lake’s Domestic Violence Shelter. If you’re interested in donating food, clothing, furniture, etc, please drop them off at the thrift store or contact The Place at the Lake at (660) 547-2611.

Lake of the Ozarks Christmas on Main Street

This weekend is your last chance to see the Lake of the Ozarks Christmas on Main Street in Osage Beach for the year.Christmas is not only a feast for the eyes but also for the ears. Do you have a favorite holiday song that evokes memories of Christmases past? If you love holiday music, you should consider going to one of the Lake of the Ozarks Christmas on Main Street shows.

Main Street Music Hall in Osage Beach offers great family-friendly entertainment. Their variety shows are something akin to the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville with a mixture of comedy, impersonations and fantastic live music. During the holiday season, they offer a special Christmas-inspired show that blends traditional songs with contemporary favorites. Of course, comedy is never far away. But, if you want to see the Christmas show, you’d better hurry. This Friday and Saturday (December 21st and 22nd) will be the last Christmas on Main Street show performed in Lake of the Ozarks until next year.

Lake of the Ozarks Festival of Trees and Wreaths

The Camden County History Museum is holding its Lake of the Ozarks Festival of Trees and Wreaths with silent auction until Dec 17, 2012. Bid now!Christmastime is a magical time of the year. Twinkling lights brighten the chilly winter nights. Sparkling decorations can be seen everywhere. A simple fir tree transforms into a magical thing of wonder when decorated in all its holiday finery. The spirit of giving and compassion is in the air as well. The Camden County History Museum is currently displaying their Lake of the Ozarks Festival of Trees and Wreaths, which celebrates beautifully decorated trees that not only look amazing but offer something more.

Several decorated holiday trees and wreaths have been donated to the museum (located at 206 S Locust in Linn Creek) from local Lake of the Ozarks businesses and organizations to be auctioned off for their annual fundraiser. They will only be on display until this Monday, December 17th. You can go to the museum anytime from now until then to check out the different displays and bid on which ones you like best in their silent auction. After December 17th, the owners of the winning bids will be contacted so they can take their tree and/or wreath home as part of their holiday decorations.
